SPREADING THE POWER OF APPRECIATION BY HONORING AND SUPPORTING OUR MILITARY HEROES PAST AND PRESENT!
Veteran & Family Led Non-profit Organization
Join us in supporting Welcome Home Military Heroes, a veteran and family-led nonprofit organization. Our mission is to show appreciation for the service and sacrifice of our military personnel, who make up the 1% that safeguard our freedoms.
Our journey began in September 2010, when we witnessed disabled veterans from AmpSurf sharing their stories at New Life Church in Pismo Beach, CA. Their overwhelming gratitude upon receiving recognition sparked a realization within us. We felt called to answer the question, "How can we show meaningful and genuine appreciation to our military men and women?" With that, our organization was born.
Since then, we have welcomed home countless soldiers, reaching almost 1,700 heartwarming welcome home events. Our efforts have been supported by various organizations such as American Legions, VFW, Vietnam Veterans of America, and many more.
Welcome Home Military Heroes has grown beyond welcome homes. We now provide a range of veteran-related services within our community. From Operation Veteran Vehicle Salutes (VVS), honoring over 600 veterans since 2020, to the Melissa Anderson Fund, sponsoring younger veterans on Honor Flights to accompany WWI or Korean War veterans, we are dedicated to making a difference.
Additionally, through initiatives like Operation American Flag, we replace torn or faded flags for free, having replaced over 1,000 flags since 2020. Operation Veteran In Need helps military heroes and their families during their most challenging times, providing support and assistance. Operation Veteran Angel Tree spreads holiday joy by assisting over 500 veteran families through local businesses.
Our original mission, Operation Welcome Home, continues to be a core focus. We have welcomed home over 1,700 military heroes, and through Operation Honor Flight, we extend our warm welcome to honor flight veterans returning from deployment.
Furthermore, we support Helping Soldiers in the Desert, a subsidiary organization responsible for sending over 23,000 care packages overseas. Lastly, Operation Flag Line allows us to provide flag lines for military funerals and support other nonprofits when requested.
To expand our impact and continue our meaningful work, we need your support. Your donations will directly contribute to these missions, ensuring that our military heroes feel appreciated, supported, and honored. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who have selflessly served our nation. Join us in our pursuit to show genuine gratitude to our military men and women.
Welcome Home Military Heroes is dedicated to organizing Welcome Homes, Memorial Services, and various missions for our Military Heroes in the Central Coast of California. We collaborate closely with esteemed organizations like the Patriot Guard Riders, local American Legion Posts, Space Force, Army/National Guard/Reserve bases, as well as over two dozen other veteran nonprofits and government agencies. Together, we strive to honor and support our military heroes throughout their service and beyond.
Our Missions:
Here are some of the missions carried out by Welcome Home Military Heroes:
1. Operation Veteran Vehicle Salutes (VVS): In response to COVID-19, we travel across the Central Coast, honoring our Military Heroes. From the youngest, a 19-year-old naval deployment returnee, to the oldest, a 108-year-old WWII veteran, we have honored over 600 veterans since 2020.
2. Melissa Anderson Fund: This fund aims to bridge the generation gap between younger and older veterans. We sponsor a younger veteran to accompany WWI or Korean War veterans on Honor Flights to Washington DC. In 2023, we have sent a total of 5 veterans, each trip costing $1,500.
3. Operation American Flag: We provide free replacements for torn, faded, or tattered American flags. Since 2020, we have replaced over 1,000 flags.
4. Operation Veteran In Need: Collaborating with government agencies and other military organizations, we assist military heroes and their families during their most challenging times. Since its inception in 2023, this mission has aided two dozen veterans.
5. Operation Veteran Angel Tree: During the holiday season, we set up Christmas trees in local businesses, inviting the public to take a tag and support a local veteran and their family. Over the past three years, we have assisted over 500 veteran families.
6. Operation Welcome Home: Our original mission is to welcome home all military heroes when they return from deployment or complete their service. To date, we have warmly welcomed over 1,700 heroes.
7. Operation Honor Flight: We extend our warm welcome to honor flight veterans upon their return from deployment. In 2023 alone, we have welcomed home over 70 veterans.
8. Helping Soldiers in the Desert: This organization, financially responsible under WHMH, is solely dedicated to sending care packages overseas. Together, we have sent over 23,000 care packages to support soldiers in the desert.
9. Operation Flag Line: We provide flag lines for local military funerals and offer our services to other nonprofits upon request.
With these diverse missions, Welcome Home Military Heroes strives to honor, support, and uplift our military heroes in various meaningful ways.
