Improving military mental health through research, training, and treatment.
The mission of Kindbridge Research Institute’s (KRI) military mental health program is to support the mental health of service members and veterans through research, training, and treatment.
There are over 19 million military veterans in the US and veterans have higher rates of some mental health conditions than the general population (e.g. PTSD and Alcohol Use Disorder). One often overlooked condition that is 3 times more prevalent in US military veterans is gambling disorder, the most severe form of gambling harm recognized by the American Psychiatric Association.
Gambling disorder is particularly harmful to veterans because 1) problems associated with gambling are exacerbated by other mental health conditions that occur more often in veterans, such as PTSD, and 2) gambling opportunities are prevalent on US military bases.
All funds raised from the NASCAR Day Giveathon 2023 will go toward our veterans programs that provide research and education aimed at preventing gambling harm among military members and veterans which consists of three parts: research to improve treatment for gambling disorder in collaboration with VA medical centers in Las Vegas and Cleveland, training and mentorship of veterans interested in careers in mental health, and funds to cover the cost of mental health treatment for veterans who cannot otherwise afford care.
Kindbridge Research Institute Inc is a Charity participating in the NASCAR Day Giveathon 2023 a Giving Day event, presented by The NASCAR Foundation.
