Helping Animals To Survive - HATS acts as guardians to protect and enhance the lives of companion animals through community involvement, education and leadership by implementing programs to promote respect, responsibility and compassion as we advocate for the humane treatment of animals.

HATS regularly:

• hosts adoption events for animal shelter dogs and cats
• offers FREE vaccine and microchip clinics to the public
• fosters at risk pets to help them become adoption ready
• works to help owners locate lost pets
• assists Lincoln County Animal Shelter (LCAS) with low cost spay/neuter clinics
• offers LCAS support by working directly with animals for socializing in preparation for adoption and bathes dogs for adoption events we host
• purchases and donates much needed equipment to LCAS that is not in the county's budget
• works closely with rescue organizations to help find lost pets owners and/or find homes for unclaimed animals
• offers low cost (or sometimes no cost) heartworm treatment to heartworm positive dogs adopted from LCAS events we host
• has worked closely with LCAS to help them achieve status as one of the first NC government run "NO KILL" animal shelters
• visits schools to help educate children about the importance of spay/neuter for animal control and the humane treatment of animals
• collects and distributes food to low income/needy families so they can keep their pets
• plus more!
