Elder Orphan Care

Our population is aging faster than ever before with 10,000 people turning 65 every day! Not one of these precious souls should go to bed hungry, alone, unsafe, cold, or isolated from community. Yet, thousands are living with this nightmare! Depression from fear and loneliness is strangling many elderly within our own neighborhoods. Elder Orphan Care exists to help change some of these statistics through home safety programs, medical equipment, mobile pantries, transportation, buddies, and connection to community.

An orphan is not always a child! It is anyone living without sufficient care to thrive.

Elder Orphan Care works with older adults age 60+ who are aging alone and have insufficient resources for basic needs. We serve in Rowan and Cabarrus counties of North Carolina as well as several areas of Romania.

In NC, our Safe and Loved at Home program is a three-part initiative aimed at helping local seniors remain safely at home for as long as possible. First, a health and home safety assessment identifies areas that may be a fall risk or inaccessible. Our team provides adaptive equipment, minor modifications, ramps, education and more to make the home as safe as possible.

This may be followed by monthly deliveries of groceries free of charge to meet the dietary needs and preferences of each individual client. This often prevents the necessity of choosing between medications and food for our clients.

Lastly, we combat isolation through wellness checks, a buddy program, group activities, individual outings, and connection to community resources.

In Romania we work with local pastors to house previously homeless older adults. We help provide funds for new homes, food, medications, clothing, and other needs. Our team will visit Romania twice this year to build relationships, love our older adults and ascertain other needs that we may be able to help with.
