New Mexico ranks 2nd in the nation for the number of children under age 18 years old who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling (Judi's House/JAG Institute 2022). This represents 1 in 9 children statewide. Unaddressed grief can lead to emotional, mental, and physical consequences such as anxiety, anger, substance abuse, and suicide. For this reason, the Grief Center of New Mexico provides free grief support groups to bereaved individuals after the death of an important person. Support groups are age-appropriate for children ages 5- 25 and led by trained Bereavement Facilitators. Adult support groups include caregivers of the children participating as well as individual adults who are seeking support from other adults relating to grief.
Additional services for the public include our free Grief Resource Libary and workshops offered throughout the year. For more details on our services go to www.griefnm.org or call (505) 323-0478.
The Grief Center's mission is to provide compassionate and safe support, understanding, healing, and hope to the grieving community.
The Grief Center of New Mexico is a Charity participating in the NASCAR Day Giveathon 2023 a Giving Day event, presented by The NASCAR Foundation.
