A safe place for a ninth life for senior and special needs cats.
Leo's Story
Leo was found as a kitten under a vehicle. He didn't react like most kittens and appeared to have health issues. Vet exams revealed Leo is hearing impaired and suffers from severe environmental allergies. He has frequent medical events, including hospitalizations for respiratory infection, tonsillitis (that’s right), and breathing treatments. In between, he spends his ninth life in a sunny window.
In 2019, he was diagnosed with asthma and began using an inhaler. Leo needs close supervision and two medications plus an inhaler twice each day. He will turn 15 in a few months.
Our Mission
Catnip Casa Cat Refuge provides care for cats that require extensive rehab or lifelong pawspice care due to age, disease, or disabilities that do not allow them to live in a normal home due to medical needs or behavioral challenges. In the case of community cats, they are unable to function in their natural environment.
The cats we serve have the potential to live well with specialized care. We strive to keep their environment safe and normal while addressing challenging needs.
We educate owners, caregivers, professionals, and the public, about caring for cats with challenges caused by age, disease, disabilities, or terminal illness.
We also support TNR (trap, neuter, return) with training, education, and equipment. In 2023, we are expanding our support and resources for community cats.
Catnip Casa Cat Refuge is a Charity participating in the NASCAR Day Giveathon 2023 a Giving Day event, presented by The NASCAR Foundation.
