Our Story

Did you know....

More than half a million, 1 out 10, babies are born too early. Babies who survive a early birth, face serious lifelong health issues, including learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, blindness, hearing loss and other chronic issues, including asthma.

The Nathan C. Splant Foundation was formed in 2007 with an understanding of the unique needs of families affected by a premature birth. Our son, Nathan, was born 24 weeks gestation at 1.9 poounds and we wanted to share our personal journey and bring greater community awareness, while giving back to the local community.

The Foundation has continued to enhance the lives of those affected by prematurity with our grant giving program, special event fundraisers, Helping Hands for Preemies Campaign, Halo Sleepsack Program, NICU programs, Caps to Benches and the Hanover Central High School Senior Scholarship Award.

Our Mission

The Nathan C. Splant Foundation is a volunteer-led organization dedicated to helping local families affected by prematurity. Through the Foundation's assistance and grant giving programs, we seek to facilitate greater community awareness and improve the conditions of those born too early and too small.

Vision Statement

The Nathan C. Splant Foundation aspires to helping premature children and their families in Northwest Indiana and the surrounding Chicago-land areas. 

We envision a positive change - promote greater community awareness, education, foster leadership and active involvement to meet the needs of children affected by prematurity and their families. We exemplify willingness and foster creativity and collaboration among organizations with similar goals and values.
