Shadow Cats

Shadow Cats celebrates 27 years of feline advocacy and saving cat lives! As the largest FeLV+ sanctuary in Texas, we provide safe harbor to the special needs and hospice cats that reside here. The cats are available for adoption, but if no home is found, they are assured a forever safe and loving life at the Sanctuary. 

The Sanctuary at Shadow Cats is home on average to 70-75 cats. All have a story to tell and usually have had a long road of hard luck before they found their way to us. However, once here, they are pampered and cared for every day of their lives, be it long or short. Each day is a gift and we cherish them all. All cats are provided the very best veterinary care and the volunteers and staff at Shadow Cats meet their daily social and basic medical needs.

In addition to our Sanctuary, Shadow Cats works closely with other nonprofits and good Sams through our One Life Fund which in 2023 sterilized 1032 community cats, provided veterinary medical support to another 175 cats and disbursed thousands of pounds of food to ensure hundreds of community cats were fed each day.

Historically, over 16,000 cats have been TNR'd, thousands of cats adopted and/or fostered, a gas chamber torn down and TNR ordinances have been changed since 1997. 

We must ask for the cats. They have no ability to directly help themselves and Shadow Cats has always been at the forefront to advocate and impact their lives- and to ask for them. We help wherever we can, wherever we find a cat in need. It is to this end, that we ask you, our friends and supporters, to help us do what we do best- help the cats in danger of falling through the cracks. We need your support in joining us today to save even more cat lives.  The cultural changes are evolving but more needs to be done. Shadow Cats will remain at the forefront of those changes.

Shadow Cats provides long term care to special needs cats in a cage free Sanctuary environment while also providing compassionate and humane resources to effect positive change in community cat populations through Trap, Neuter and Return program and spay/neuter programs.
