You can hear the “wow!” when a class of young students walks into City Hall or the Ellicott Square Building, and see the amazement in their eyes as they marvel at the beauty of our city’s landmarks on one of our Education Tours. We believe it is essential for local students to be excited about our community’s history at an early age, which is why our Education Program is so important to our organization.

We are on a mission to provide every student in Western New York with the opportunity to experience places including Canalside, City Hall, Delaware Park, and Downtown Buffalo on one of our Education Tours. Field trips are out of reach for many groups without financial support, and we need your donation to help underwrite our Education Tour program in the 2025-26 school year.

Your donation will help us provide Education Tours at no cost for schools and groups that otherwise would not be able to join us on a tour. This includes low-income schools in urban and rural areas and special needs programs such as group homes and day programs. With your generous support, we will provide tours at no cost for more of these groups in the 2025-26 school year. And, for the first time, we will begin to provide support for bus transportation. For many groups, the cost of a bus – now typically $500 or more per bus – is a major barrier to their ability to take a field trip.

1. Our community impact grows every year: last year we welcomed over 28,000 attendees on our tours, events, and other educational programs!
2. In the 2024-25 school year, we provided tours for over 2,800 K-12 students and nearly 400 special needs students and adults on Education Tours in the first half of 2025
3. Our tours are led by a dedicated and passionate group of more than 200 trained volunteer docents and tour assistants
