Abused neglected horses
RVHR has assisted with the care and equine abuse to over 375 horses since 2002. Our paddocks are open to abused, neglected, starved and slaughter bound horses. We work directly with local County Animal Control offices with housing of seized horses.
Our program and facility gives the general public the opportunity to learn about horses and their care.
Along with many volunteer opportunities and adoption of a rescue horse.
Our CEO has dedicated the past 26 years to help equines in need. Pat Muncy and her husband Jason Muncy purchased the facility 21 years ago with a mission to have a safe place for the equines to be safe, cared for loved and have a place they can always call home. So many of the cases Pat has assisted with when first starting the rescue were heart breaking.
To better assist local Animal Control Officers she continued her education to become a local Equine Cruelty Investigator to help the counties with neglect and abuse seizure cases.
RVHR is not a retirement facility each rescued horse in our care is looking for a new home and will be placed with a adopter when possible. Some of the RVHR Herd are in their 30's and can remain with us until it is time to travel the rainbow bridge.
If an owner wishes to release a horse into the RVHR Programs they are taken in only when room is available. We do our best to keep space open for those horses whom have be inhumanly treat by their past owners.
RVHR receives 100% of it's funding from public donations such as yours and a few grants. RVHR does NOT receive State or Federal Funding. RVHR reports all horse intakes to the VA Dept of Agriculture to help with tracking of our equine friends in our state.
If you make a donation to RVHR during the event you will added to a drawing to win from RVHR a Hallmart Collectors Keepsake Nascar Ornaments.
